For a turkey in the oven, meat on the grill, or candy on the stove, this thermometer and timer from Portland's own CDN will help you make it right. It features a 5" stainless-steel temperature probe that stays in the food, attached to a 36"-long cable, so you don't even need to open the oven door or lift the lid of the grill to keep an eye internal cooking temperatures. It features pre-sets for various types of meat and degrees of doneness, or you can set your own desired temperature; either way an alert sounds when food is ready. The DPT482 displays both the actual and the target temperatures or the timer clock, and it can be set to read in either Fahrenheit or Centigrade units. It reads from 32° to 482° F and the timer counts both up and down. The display unit measures 2.375" x 4.125" x 0.75" and stands up, hangs, or attaches with a built-in magnet. Power comes from a single AAA battery which is included.
